Position Overview:
The Project Manager is responsible for projects from receipt of purchase order through final installation and final customer site acceptance. This is achieved by providing critical leadership to the project, ensuring detailed project plans are developed and in place, daily/weekly/monthly measurement of project’s progress to plan, effective interaction with customers and regulators, and internal reporting of the project’s progress.
Key Accountabilities:
Deliver a project achieving or exceeding customer and company targets for cost, quality, schedule and HSE requirements.
Achieved by leading the project team (including internal and external/subcontract relationships) to execute projects on schedule, at or below budget delivering the contracted scope of work to all applicable codes and standards.
Key customer contact for assigned projects. Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction. Maintain regular contact (verbal and written) with key customer representative(s) ensuring all key project events and issues are documented in writing.
Manage project risks including assessment and Identification of risks, develop and implement risk mitigation plan(s). Project Planning through the development of suitable budget allocations for project labour and materials. Identify and ensure procurement of all long-lead delivery items.
Monitor all critical path material, expedite, and find substitutes if possible/permitted, oversee project schedule development and identify all critical path activities.
Conduct initial project build plan meeting.
Manage project resources. Ensures that adequate resources are assigned to all project tasks.
Project financial management: Project Forecasting – Prepare accurate financial and resource forecasts. Prepare reports as required by Fero Management, Elevate deficiencies to Director Operations
Management Reporting: Holds team communications meetings on a regular basis. Attend the project status meeting as required by Director Operations
Project Change Management: Track all contract changes and prepare CCRs (Customer Change Requests). Ensure customer caused/requested changes are executed by the team only after receipt of customer agreement.
Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Fero Code of Business Conduct.
Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Qualifications:
Post- secondary college diploma, engineering degree or equivalent, specializing in civil or mechanical engineering; Completion of or in the process of achieving the Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset.
Engineering experience in the manufacturing industry relating to commercial or healthcare buildings. Experience with modular construction is an asset.
Must have a practical working knowledge of construction, experience with building codes: mechanical, electrical, applicable federal and provincial regulations.
Must have a proven track record of providing positive leadership and coordination to a multi-disciplined project design and construction team.
Must have acted in a leading role with a minimum of three years’ experience in a variety of projects/markets on a multidiscipline team. Managed a minimum of (individual size) ~ $3M projects
Demonstrated knowledge and an understanding of the OHSA
Strong technical aptitude, with knowledge of MS Office applications (including Dynamics 365, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Word) as well as VDC software.
Other Requirements:
Ability to travel to customer and supplier locations as required.
Participate pro-actively in the continuous improvement process.
Strong presentation, problem-solving and analytical skills.
An ability to work effectively with customers according to deadlines and under pressure-filled conditions is essential.
