Position Overview:

As the QA/QC Coordinator – Welding, you will be responsible for the wide range of inspections, providing technical support, coordinating with various departments, and ensuring compliance with quality standards and procedures ensuring efficiency and production objectives are achieved.

Key Accountabilities

  • Communicate the quality requirements with management, staff, and clients.

  • Perform dimensional inspection of the parts or assemblies and welds using various measuring instruments – Measuring tape, Vernier, Micrometer, fillet gauge, weld cam gauge, hi-lo gauge etc.

  • Verify that all fabrication activities comply with the applicable quality codes and standards.

  • Provide appropriate feedback to management regarding QA/QC matters.

  • Ensure the welding activity is performed by qualified welders and identify any performance qualification or procedure qualification needs with respect to project specification and requirements.

  • Review fabrication drawings and blueprints to ascertain the availability of WPDS and qualified welders to perform all the welding activity associated with the project.

  • Ensure the proper implementation of all QA/QC requirements on the shop floor.

  • Review Material Test Reports to verify the compliance of the grades and dimensions as per the project specification.

  • Continually monitor pre-fabrication, in process and post fabrication activity and record the inspection result as per the approved Inspection Test Plan and project inspection checklist.

  • Identify any Nonconformance activity and generate Non-Conformance Report, as needed, to confirm the project specification and standards are met.

  • Maintain and organize all inspection records as per the project needs.

  • Perform internal Audits and ensure the availability of records and documents for CWB audits.

  • Maintain a safe work environment by observing and following standards and procedures, complying with regulations and codes

  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Fero Code of Business Conduct.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Canadian General Equivalency Diploma, (GED).

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as a QC Inspector or NDT Technician.

  • CWB Welding Inspector Level 2 certificate (Visual Inspection, VT) with W47.1, W59 endorsements. CWB Welding Inspector Level 1 certificate will be considered with a clear path to achieving Level 2 in a timely manner.

  • Technical aptitude, ability to read blueprints with knowledge of MS Office applications (including SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).

  • Ability to work overtime and/or weekends if required.

Physical Requirements

  • Must stand for long periods, with frequent lifting up to 50lbs.

  • Able to work in all weather conditions including outdoors.

  • Bending, crouching, kneeling, lifting, tight spaces and ladder use

  • Wearing PPE such as safety boots, safety vest, safety glasses and gloves.
